According to a new U.S. Department of Agriculture report, the recession is taking a toll on the most basic of human needs: food. About 16 percent of all Americans – that’s 49 million people – lived in “food insecure” households in 2008, up from 12.4 percent in 2007. Sheilah takes a look at hunger on the ground in Maryland with Deborah Flateman, CEO of the Maryland Food Bank.
