Baltimore City Schools CEO Andrés Alonso announced this morning that at least 332 teachers have committed to taking early retirement buyouts.
The buyouts would go to teachers with more than ten years’ experience, and those who take the deal will receive 75 percent of their salary over a five-year period. The school system needed at least 350 people to commit to the plan, and this past Friday was the deadline for teachers to make their decisions. Mr. Alonso says he expects more teachers to take the offer in the coming days.
