Baltimore-based writer Daniel Mark Epstein has written nearly 20 works of poetry, plays, biography and history. His last three books were critically acclaimed studies of Abraham Lincoln and the people around him. In his new book, Epstein turns his attention to Bob Dylan, in a portrait of the iconic poet and performer he calls The Ballad of Bob Dylan.
With a poet’s eye, Epstein offers trenchant observations and interpretations of Dylan’s poetry, and as an experienced biographer, he untangles fact and legend about an artist whose influence is unmistakable, and whose work is seared into the American consciousness.
Tom talks to Epstein about his new work.
