What measures does Baltimore have in place to keep students from dropping out? Claudio Sanchez, NPR’s education reporter, looked into this in Baltimore as part of a larger series he’s reporting called “School’s Out: An Overview of America’s Dropout Crisis.” As part of the series, he visited Tench Tilghman Middle School in East Baltimore, where he examined the interventions Baltimore officials are using to keep kids from dropping out.
Sheilah speaks with Claudio about his reporting, and gets more details on dropout prevention efforts from a Jonathan Brice, a School Support Networks Officer for Baltimore Public Schools.
