Opera plays a big role in the film The Last Rites of Joe May. That’s the movie that is kicking off the Chesapeake Film Festival, which takes place this weekend on the Eastern Shore. Other films they’re showing include Band Together, which follows Maryland’s Kent County Community Marching Band, Network, to honor the late Sidney Lumet, and a documentary about the terminally ill called How to Die in Oregon. Tom Hall talks about the films with Rhonda Thomson, the director for this festival. You can view the full schedule here.
We’re having the artistic director of the Chesapeake Film Festival, Doug Sadler, as our November guest for the Maryland Morning Screen Test. It’ll be a live interview and screening in Baltimore that will take place on November 23. He’s known for the films Swimmers and Riders.
