12-9-11: Occupy Tumblr

The Occupy Wall Street movement has been occupying a lot of space in social media, whether through photoshopped pictures of the so-called “Pepper Spraying Cop,” videos of protestors blockading the Port of Oakland, or in viral graphs depicting growing income inequality.
That’s the digital picture of Occupy, anyway. For the last couple months, our social-media analysts Nathan Jurgenson and P.J. Rey have been visiting physical Occupy encampments and writing about the low-tech and high-tech aspects of the movement.
Nathan and P.J. are Ph.D. candidates in sociology at the University of Maryland, and they blog at Cyborgology.
