5-16-12: The Food OUR Food Eats

In today’s Smart Nutrition, we examine the food that our food eats.  The General Assembly took up this issue during the regular session, and Maryland became the first state in the country to ban most drugs that contain arsenic from chicken feed.

We addressed this bill (SB 207 / HB 167),in one of our Legislative Lightning Rounds–you can hear one of the bills sponsors, Senator Paul Pinsky, Democrat of Prince George’s County, and with Valerie Connelly, Director of Government Relations for the Maryland Farm Bureau, which opposed the bill.  The Governor has not yet signed it.
