Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot has been pushing recently for a new high school graduation requirement: financial literacy. Some Maryland middle schools are already on that train. A curriculum called Stocks in the Future is teaching area tweens how to invest – and with regular attendance and good grades, these students earn money to invest in real stocks. We visit a local middle school Stocks in the Future classroom, and then Sheilah talks to the program’s founder, Pat Bernstein.
