Hello, was getting ready for work today and heard the end of your commentary. I am 43, have lived and worked as a graphic designer in Baltimore City for 13 years. I had my son when I moved here. We are looking at high schools presently. I have no desire to move from Baltimore and I will find a school I think will give my son a good education. I will not move out of the City to do so. I like it here. We have made a good life. But in all honesty, my son has more experience with African Americans in this city than I have. I still feel like the blind leading the blind.

Yet I too, have found myself wishing my son was not constantly in the minority, as he has been for his whole school experience. However, I do think his being in the minority has been, ultimately, a good experience for him. Was very torn about your comments and ended up wondering – do you have children? What are their experiences? What were some of yours as a student?

Would you have time at some point to sit over coffee and exchange some thoughts and experiences regarding this issue? From your p.o.v as a former student and my p.o.v. as a mom of a student? Think about it.

    Thanks for your consideration.
    Bridget Parlato
