3-5-10: Music by Prudence

March 4, 2010 at 3:50 pm 17 comments

A documentary film called Music by Prudence has been nominated for an Academy Award, and the movie’s cinematographer, Errol Webber, has already made Oscar history.  He shot the film in 2008–less than two weeks after his graduation from MICA–making him the youngest cinematographer ever to shoot an Oscar-nominated film.  Patrick Wright is the chair of MICA’s video and film arts department and a co-producer of the film. They join Tom in the studio to talk about the film and how they came to make it.

    Congratulations to the Webber’s family.
I have known this family even before they became family. We were and still remain very good friends. I am so very proud of the three children of the Webbers, who are excelling in their own way.
I am extremely proud of Errol Jr.being the recipient of this great historic achievement.

As a member of Errol’s former church in Jamaica, I was elated when this achievement was announced in church today. I recall Errol (even though younger than I am) to be a young man of example. He has always carried himself with distinction.

I commend those who gave him this oppurtunity and also his family, immediate and extended for their socialization of this genius.

Well, what shall we say then? Congratulations, Errol, Jnr. You have done well – You are an achiever – keep up the good work. You have imagined it – therefore you achieved it; you dreamt it, and now you’ve won it. Don’t change lanes – remain on the side of God.

Errol Jr., we always knew that there was something special about you as we watched you during your youthful years at the Pentecostal Gospel Temple in Jamaica. Truly, God’s hand is on your life in a marked wayfor all to see. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement and never forget to give honor to the One from whom all your blessings flow.

In all things give God Almighty the Honour as this is a stepping stone to EVEN GREATER THINGS, but strictly for the purpose of giving another the hope that comes from knowing Jesus Christ.

The Kingdoms of this world (Music, Film, Politics, Education…) are truly becoming the Kingdoms of our God!

As a former teacher of Mr. Webber, it would be unusual if he didn’t receive this kind of fame so early. He was always enthusiastic about life and cameras – the attraction had to come back to him. His energy and overall love for humanity proved that it comes back to you. I would say to Mr. Webber that from this day, the sky’s the liimit and to keep up the momentum to live, love and be happy – stay the coarse, serve and be frkitful in all you do. Very proud that you have crossed my path.
