Peevology is one thing that gets under John McIntyre’s skin. [CLICHE]
John McIntyre was the chief of the Baltimore Sun‘s [ITAL] copy desk for 13 years until he was layed [OH COME ON] off in 2009. But he’s back in the saddle [CLICHE!], hired back recently to become The Sun’s [ITAL!] night content production manager [WHAT ON EARTH IS A “NIGHT CONTENT PRODUCTION MANAGER”?].
The highly-esteemed [STET] grammarian joins Sheila [It’s SheilaH – WITH AN H] to talk about grammar; the joys of being employed; [SEMICOLONS ALWAYS MEAN YOUR SENTENCE IS FAR TOO LONG] and, of course, the analysis of faults, often imaginary, in language usage, arbitrarily pronounced by self-anointed experts, the analysis typically revealing rank prejudice and cultural bias [THIS IS PLAGIARIZED RIGHT FROM HIS BLOG!]–peevology.
