6-15-10: All in for Biotech

With the BIO 2020 initiative, Maryland is putting its eggs in the biotech basket. Could the next equivalent of the so-called “synthetic cell” happen here?

We talk to Judy Britz, executive director of the Maryland Biotechnology Center, about a tax credit program that’s trying to lure investors toward Maryland biotech start-ups.

Then intern Mariama Eversley and producer Lawrence Lanahan visit the lab of Biomarker Strategies, a start-up at the Johns Hopkins Biotech Park that’s trying to develop a new way to diagnose cancer.
