6-28-10: So, You Think You Know Gettysburg?

June 25, 2010 at 4:15 pm Leave a comment

Thursday marks the 147th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, probably the turning point of the Civil War … certainly the bloodiest battle in U.S. history. When the smoke cleared, 50,000 Union and Confederate soldiers lay dead. Thousands will converge to see the re-enactment of parts of the three-day battle. In focusing on the fury and bombast of the battle, visitors may miss some of its poignant details, many described in a new book by a couple who have fallen in love with the battlefield. The book is So You Think You Know Gettysburg? Jim Gindlesperger wrote it with his wife Suzanne, they join Sheilah on the phone from Pennsylvania.

James and Suzanne Gindlesperger will be signing books on Saturday at two spots in Gettysburg:
