The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland College Park kicks off its season with the world premiere of a new work by the award winning choreographer Liz Lerman. It’s called The Matters of Origins, and it will be presented by the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange.

Liz Lerman was awarded a MacArthur “Genius” Grant Fellowship in 2002.  She founded Liz Lerman Dance Exchange in 1976, and she has long been known as an artist who engages issues and communities in provocative and imaginative ways.  She has described The Matters of Origins as “a performance, a conversation, a floor show, a game show and a chance to meet big minds.”  It was highlighted earlier this week in the Washington Post.

Tom talks to Liz Lerman about the performance.
