10-6-10: Limn City

You never know what’s going to drive web traffic.

Since we aired an interview with the author of a children’s book about the rescue of a baby owl, we’ve drawn more hits from people looking for pictures of baby owls than just about anyone else. (There are a lot of baby owl fans out there. Maybe too many.)

But the hits we get are nothing compared to what the Baltimore Sun got for using the word “limn” in a headline (“Opposing votes limn differences in race,” September 7).

Night content production manager and veteran copy editor John McIntyre tells Sheilah about the nasty letters that four-letter word generated and the 45,000 hits the Sun‘s site received in the ensuing kerfuffle.
