11-5-10: How Do You Solve a Problem Like a Vacant?

This week, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake started putting in place new steps to deal with the 16,000 vacant and abandoned properties in the city–one-fourth of which are owned by the city.

It made us wonder how other parts of Maryland cope with vacant properties. We hear from a few people running programs to combat vacants, and then we talk with Carol Gilbert, Assistant Secretary of the Neighborhood Revitalization Program for the state of Maryland.
