2-25-11: AIDS in Baltimore Among MSM

The picture of AIDS and HIV infection in the Baltimore region has been worse than most other U.S. cities for a long time, and new research indicates it’s not getting better.  One fourth of if HIV-AIDS cases are among men having sex with men – the only group in central Maryland in which the incidence of HIV is rising.

That’s one of the findings in a new study of that population by Dr. Danielle German of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public health. We talk with her and Gary Wolntizek , program specialist at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Baltimore, about AIDS rates amongst MSM and what it means for all of us in Baltimore
