3-25-11: “In the Big Inning”
The William and Irene Weinberg Family Baltimore Jewish Film Festival kicks off Monday with The Yankles, the tale of an Orthodox Jewish baseball team that takes on a disgraced major leaguer as a coach in hopes of turning their season around.
Sheilah talks to the co-writers of The Yankles, brothers Zev and David R. Brooks, about their tale of rabbis and RBIs.
The Yankles screens Monday at the Gordon Center for the Performing Arts in Owings Mills, but it’s currently sold out. It’s the first of eight films that will be shown through mid-April. You can see the lineup at the film festival’s website, and if you’d like to see where The Yankles screens next and when it will be released on DVD, check out the film’s Facebook page.
