Bob Dylan has composed some of the most iconic songs in the history of American music, and his influence on singer- songwriters has been unmatched since he first dominated the folk scene in the 1960s.

Mr. Dylan will celebrate his 70th birthday a week from today, and on Friday night at the Creative Alliance, seven local singer-songwriters will pay tribute to the American Bard in a Night of 1000 Dylans, where each performer will play some of the Dylan tunes that mean the most to them.

The evening will be hosted by Geoffrey Himes.  He writes about music for the Washington Post, the New York Times, Rolling Stone Magazine and many other publications, including the Baltimore City Paper.  He is also a singer-songwriter himself, and the host of a monthly music series called the Roots Café.
