5-20-11: So PHAT

Dr. Carnell Cooper is a man with many jobs. He’s a surgeon in the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, he’s the founder of a program at the hospital that tries to intervene with patients who have had violent traumatic injuries, and he is also the founder of a program that works with teens before they might come into harm’s way.

A few months ago Dr. Cooper came to our studios to talk with us about the Violence Intervention Program, the program that tries to offer counseling and support for those that have violent traumatic injuries. While he was here we also talked with him about PHAT, which stands for Promoting Healthy Alternatives for Teens.

We couldn’t air that part of the conversation before but we wanted to bring it to you today.
