5-27-11: Where the Jobs At?
Thousands of Marylanders have gone back to work this spring, and evidence is accumulating that employers plan to hire more in the coming months. The Federal Reserve’s Baltimore branch just issued yesterday its monthly survey of the Maryland business climate. The report said businesses reported “sharp increases in employment and capital expenditures.”
We want to know: which Maryland businesses are hiring, who are they seeking, and how does Maryland compare to the rest of the country?
To answer this, we turn to Andy Bauer, regional economist at the Baltimore branch of the Richmond Federal Reserve, and Richard Clinch, director of economic research at the University of Baltimore’s Jacob France Institute.
