It’s June–time to plant those seeds that like the heat, such as squash and cucumbers.  Tom Hall visits our garden guru, Anne Raver, on her farm in Carroll County, to learn her  methods.

Anne Raver writes about gardening for the New York Times.  Her book of essays is called Deep in the Green:  An Exploration of Country Pleasures. She lives and farms in Carroll County, Maryland.

And in this web extra, you can hear Anne speak about why she plants her cucumbers in a trench versus a mound.

Anne Raver plants her cucumber seeds in a trench, making sure they have good contact with the ground before watering them in.
