6-29-11: How To Protect a Consumer

What should you know before you owe?  A lot, says Congressman Elijah Cummings.   He’s hosting a town hall meeting at the central branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library tomorrow with Elizabeth Warren.  She’s the Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury on the newly-established Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).  It’s part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which was passed last year.

Today, we ask Elijah Cummings how the new bureau will affect Maryland consumers–and Maryland banks.

We also hear from Kathleen Murphy, President and CEO of the Maryland Bankers Association, about what she likes about the new bureau — and what she’s concerned about.
