7-6-11: Common Ground on the Hill

July 6, 2011 at 7:55 am Leave a comment

Common Ground on the Hill is an organization premised on the notion that people from different ethnicities and backgrounds share a common thread that is best expressed through artistic traditions.  Since 1994, the centerpiece of its work is an annual festival of roots music, dance, and spoken word.

This year’s edition takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Carroll County Farm Museum in Westminster. Dozens of performers, including local favorites and internationally acclaimed artists, will perform music from all over the world.

Today, Tom gets a conversational–and musical–preview from Baltimore-based blues, gospel and jazz singer Lea Gilmore and Common Ground on the Hill founder and executive director Walt Michael.

Take a look at the complete schedule for this weekend’s Common Ground on the Hill.

Audio for this segment will be posted by the end of the day.
