7-27-11: Advanced Placement, Limited Availability

Investigative news organization ProPublica recently published a piece about unequal access to Advanced Placement and other high level courses. The report singled out Maryland as an example of this “opportunity gap.”

Maryland seems to have already made some progress in closing the gap, at least by race. Today, we’ll talk to ProPublica reporters Sharona Coutts and Jennifer LaFleur about what the remaining gap looks like, and we’ll ask Maryland State Department of Education interim superintendent of schools Dr. Bernard Sadusky what the state is doing about it.
