8-15-11: From Delaware to Korea

August 15, 2011 at 9:43 am Leave a comment

Allen’s Family Foods, a 92-year-old poultry business based in Delaware, declared bankruptcy in June.  Last month, Allen’s was purchased by Harim Group, a poultry company based in Korea.  That’s left Delmarva chicken growers who worked for Allen’s wondering what’s going to happen—and if they’ll still be able to find work.

We talk about this with one of those growers:  Allen Davis is a poultry and grain farmer, who runs a farm in Kent County, Maryland, with his twin brother, Olan.  You can learn more about the farm in this video produced by the Maryland Grain Producers Association.
