The shofar is an instrument used during the High Holy Days.  We talk about it with Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan, who’s with the Chabad Center and Lubavitch of Maryland.   The shofar is made out of the horn of a non-goring animal, such as a goat or a ram.  Rabbi Kaplan says it sounds very plain.  “It is a simple sound, which is a primal sound.  It reminds us of the primal relationship we have with god.”
