In the mid-aughts, Lonelygirl15 became one of the first fictional web shows to really take off … but lonely girl’s not so lonely anymore.  Last week, YouTube announced that it’s launching 100 online channels that will be available mid-next year.

Roger Casey, president of McDaniel College, talks about the history of web based television — and what’s good to watch now, including “Autotune the News” and “How it Should Have Ended”–which gives new endings to classic movies.  He also recommends the website Tubefilter.tv, to help you decide what to watch — that site also gives The Streamy Awards for the best shows on the web.
