11-11-11: From Erdman Avenue to Parris Island

Brigadier General Lori Reynolds

Lori Reynolds grew up just off Erdman Avenue on the eastern edge of Baltimore as the youngest of five girls. In 1982 she graduated from Seton High School, now Seton Keough, and when she finished there, she headed to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.

Today she is Brigadier General Reynolds, and she commands Parris Island, the famous training grounds for the U.S. Marine Corps. She’s been to Iraq and Afghanistan—in Afghanistan, she was the first woman to command battle space for the Marines.

Sheilah calls Brig. Gen. Reynolds at Parris Island this morning to hear her story.

Yesterday was the U.S. Marine Corps’s 236th birthday. Here’s a birthday message from the Commandant and Sergeant Major.
