Sheilah Kast interviews Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley in the Governor's Reception Room in Annapolis.

Why did Governor Martin O’Malley turn to taxes for budget balancing after several years of focusing on cuts? Has same-sex marriage eclipsed the death penalty at the top of his list of social issues? And what will he do if Maryland loses its AAA bond rating?

In this special edition of Maryland Morning, we spend the hour with Governor O’Malley in the Governor’s Reception Room at the State House in Annapolis.

Here, in this web extra, Governor O’Malley talks about how repealing the death penalty is still a priority for him:

Was that a group hug or an interview? Even for the usual liberal public radio, that was the squishiest programming I’ve ever heard. Aren’t there any real reporters to ask tough questions at YPR? Where was Fraser Smith?
