Some times the best way to deal with something serious — is to treat it very lightly.   At the Maryland Morning Screen Test this past Wednesday at the Windup Space, producer, writer, and director Steve Blair, talked about both the creation of comedies and commercials.

His 2010 comedy feature, I Do & I Don’t, is shot entirely in Baltimore with actors Jane Lynch and Matt Serrvito, and takes on pre-marriage counseling. He also he works as a line producer for TV commercials, such as this one, which features Baltimore prominently.  Blair started in film production; two of his early projects were producing the feature dramas Mentor, starring Rutger Hauer as a condescending professor, and Red, a small town Sundance-selected drama starring Brian Cox.

He also writes his own film scripts—including an ensemble comedy, Sweet Baby Jesus, a retelling of the Nativity story set in 1960s Bethlehem, Maryland—and publishes frequent Receipemails  about food via his cooking website, pulpkitchen.com.
