Longtime Walters Art Museum director Gary Vikan is leaving after nearly two decades in the role.  Tom Hall talks with him about his time as curating the deep collection.

Before coming to the Walters, Gary Vikan worked in Byzantine Art Studies at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, DC.  He’s originally from Minnesota, and WYPR listeners may also know Gary for his series “Postcards from the Walters,” a series of essays about different pieces of art in the museum.
