How can Baltimore create more—and better-paying jobs—for its low-income residents? As you heard during the news report, a new study from the Brookings Institution finds the number of low-wage jobs available in the region is growing at a much faster pace than those that pay more.  The report is entitled “Building From Strength: Creating Opportunity in Greater Baltimore’s Next Economy.”  Funded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, it offers a roadmap of sorts for how Baltimore might reverse that trend.

Sheilah talks with the author of the report, Jennifer Vey, a Baltimore resident and a fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program, and with Darius Irani, the director for the Regional Economic Studies Institute at Towson University.

Here’s a link to the full report online.
