Washington College has awarded the Sophie Kerr Prize to senior Kathryn Manion.  It’s the nation’s largest student literary award, and Manion will receive $58,274 at commencement.  It’s awarded annually to a graduating senior at Washington College.

Manion is an English major from Clarksville, Maryland, and she won for her  four short stories, and excerpts of her thesis on the role of letter writing in literature.

Here, she talks with Tom Hall about her work.  Sheilah and Tom also discuss how other prize money awarded to artists could help them change Baltimore.
