On our show, we’ve featured Baltimore’s homegrown style of dance music, called Baltimore club. But just about 35 miles down I-95, Washington D.C. has its own style: go-go.

Chuck Brown was the “godfather of go-go.” He died last Wednesday at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Washington D.C. has been mourning. He was 75. Today, we revisit his conversation with Tom Hall about his music and its evolution, recorded in June 2011 when he came through town to play at the Roots Fest in West Baltimore.
