5-25-12: A Major Investigation

Almost exactly one year ago, Baltimore State’s Attorney Gregg Bernstein announced the creation of a new major investigations unit. The idea was for local and federal authorities to build cases against violent, repeat offenders.
Some major indictments from that unit came just last week: State’s Attorney Bernstein announced drug and murder conspiracy charges against more than a dozen people as a result of a six-month long investigation. The charges relate to a string of violence stemming from the murder in April 2011 of Darian Kess, who prosecutors say was related to East Baltimore druglord Robert Moore. The case was built with agents from a federal agency, the Drug Enforcement Administration.
State’s Attorney Bernstein joins Sheilah to discuss the investigation.
